Progress on last year

We are pleased that the need for foodbanks has seemed to be decreasing year on year recently in our area. We believe this is due to the government's social welfare policies and cost of living payments, as well as a post Covid-19 correction.

The data presented on West Lothian Foodbank's statistics (this page and other reports) is subject to certain limitations related to the measurement of unique users, which may vary depending on the timescale used for analysis. Specifically, when aggregating unique users over different periods, the figures may not accurately represent the true number of individuals served. For instance, if a family of three accesses the foodbank twice a month from January to March, this would be recorded as three unique users per month, resulting in a total of nine unique users when summing the individual months. However, when considering the same data on a quarterly basis, which is our standard aggregation method, the family would only be counted as three unique users for the entire quarter. This discrepancy arises due to the nuances of data aggregation and should be taken into account when interpreting the figures. We continually strive to improve our data collection and analysis methods to provide the most accurate and meaningful representation of our impact on the community.
