We get a lot of people asking about these clothing collection bags that have been coming through your mailboxes. These are genuine! Please support the food bank by using them.
The clothes are collected by a local family run business and taken to a warehouse in Livingston. They are then sorted and suitable clothes are sent to the Ukraine to be sold. There is a great need for affordable clothes there.
If our Charity shop needs specific items i.e. boys clothes then we can collect them from the warehouse. otherwise we get paid per kilo of clothes clothes collected. If you have ‘premium’ items please don’t put them in these bags – donate them to the shop directly.
The company that does the collections distributes the bags in such a way os to make their collection and sorting easier. This means that someone on one street may get a bag while someone on the next street may have to wait. This is normal.
