“Technology” comes to the rescue!

19th September 2016

No! Not in the form of PCs, mobiles or tablets but in the form of a team from Akamai Ltd.(Livingston). Concerned about the massive undertaking of an annual foodbank stock check, we were unsure how to go forward with the weighing and recording of up to 15 tonnes of food. We would therefore like to thank, most sincerely, the team of employees from Akamai Ltd. who made it all possible. The team, who came for a whole day, did a fantastic job.
The story behind the volunteer day?

“Each year Akamai honor and celebrates their co-founder Danny Lewin’s spirit with the Danny Lewin Community Care Days globally in the month of September.  These days are when employees work together to celebrate Danny’s life by giving back to local communities.

On September 11, 2001, Akamai lost Danny aboard the American Airlines flight 11 that crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York.  Danny’s spirit and energy remain strong in all of us at Akamai.  His vision continues to guide us as we carry on his commitment to Akamai’s success.

You can find more information about Danny online and there was also a book written about his life which is a great read.”
